An 18-year old Dalit girl has filed a complaint against a 25-year old engineer from Udaipur of raping her under the pretext of marriage.
The victim, a resident of Kolkata, is a medical aspirant undergoing coaching at Kota. She befriended the accused, Krishanveer Singh (25) on Facebook. Singh is a resident of Udaipur. Soon after befriending the victim, Singh started to frequent Kota.
The victim accused that Singh promised to marry her and under the pretext made physical relationships with her once in Kota and twice in Jaipur. When the girl became pregnant, Singh went back on his promise of marriage and asked her to abort the pregnancy. He eventually stopped taking her calls.
The victim eventually took legal advice and called Singh to Kota under the pretext of aborting the pregnancy. Singh was caught in Kota and a medical investigation also confirmed the pregnancy.
Singh has been booked under section 376 (IPC), SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities Act) and a section of POCSO Act since the girl was underage at time of physical relationship.
