Readers might remember the last week news of a 17-year old Bohra girl from Udaipur being harassed by an accused with a online morphed naked photo of hers. Instead of taking action against the culprit, Police had pointed fingers toward the girl and her family’s liberal value system and instead asked the girl to take down her social media profile.
This story went viral after the girl’s sister Saleha Paatwala posted the entire incident on her Facebook page. The family tweeted about the incident to various government and police officials.
Finally, Union Minister for Women and Child Development Maneka Gandhi responded via her twitter account promising that the culprit will not go unpunished.
Paatwala later did receive a call from Ministry for Women and Child Development and she recounted the entire episode. We now await the actions that the ministry take with all the information in hand
