Rajasthan CM, Vasundhara Raje lifted curtains off the Affordable Housing Scheme, Jan Aawas Yojna on Saturday, for the economically weaker sections (EWS) and lower income groups (LIG).  This was in conjunction with the unveiling of Land Allotment Policy 2015 in Urban Areas.  Both these announcements are a milestone in Policy reform, said Raje.

“Living in satisfactory housing conditions is one of the most important aspects of people’s lives.  The new housing scheme and land allotment policy will go a long way in ensuring housing for all,” said the CM.

She also said that as per estimates, 85% of the 10 Lac houses needed by 2022 will be for the EWS/LIG people.  The governments target is to meet the requirement by 2018.

The policy will also give incentives and will motivate developers and government agencies during the construction of EWS/LIG housing on private and government land.

“To expedite the process of construction, development will be facilitated through fast-track approvals,” said Rajpal Singh Shekhawat, UDH Minister, under whose chairmanship the committee has been setup.

During the launch event, the CM invited real estate developers to participate in the Resurgent Rajasthan Partnership Summit scheduled in Jaipur in November 2015, as per media reports.
